The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have made it clear to the Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, that anything short of reaching the AFCON final will be deemed a failure.

According to the NFF president, Gusau, “the conditions in his contract states that reaching the final of the AFCON is of great necessity, however, another serious condition in his contract was qualifying Nigeria for the World Cup; unfortunately, we have seen how that has gone so far.”

The NFF supremo is optimistic that the Super Eagles will do better in this AFCON than the last AFCON of 2023. When asked if the coach was given a free hand in selecting the players he wants to work with, he said federation did not interfere in the coach’s decisions. He stated that the Federation just wanted to know the criteria the coach used in selecting his players.
