There are at least 3 types of Aircraft in existence in the world, some of them you may know and some you may not know. The amazing thing about these aircrafts is that there are multiple variations within these aircraft. However, in this article, we will not just list the different types of these machines; we will also list the variations within them that bring wonder to the world.
It is important that you know that despite the differences in these aircrafts they all serve one purpose, which is to enhance the movement of people, goods, and services from one point to another. Be it a commercial, private, military, or a special purpose aircraft, movement remains at the core of their existence.
Meanwhile, we will examine the key functions of these types of aircraft, analyze them, and determine the reasons behind their development.

1. Commercial Aircraft

Commercial airliners serve the purpose of transporting people from one location to another. There are planes whose existence is strictly for this purpose. Commercial airliners are generally classified into two variations: long-haul flights and regional flights.

These long haul planes are planes that can take you from Atlanta, the United States Japan with little of no need to stopover for refuelingso as to continue the journey.

These type of aircrafts can fly upto 14,000 miles non stop until they reach their destination. In addition, these planes can carry upto 200 hundred or more passengers in their journey.

Types of Aircraft (commercial long-haul flights)

Airbus A380

Airbus Flying

Known for it's ability to carry upto 400 or more passengers, and enough tank space for upto 80,000 kg of jet fuel for it's journey. A lot of passengers have regard for this type of plane, it's size, the confidence it instills in bothe the pilot and the passengers is on another level. Also, this plane can easily pull through the turbulence that normally shakes other smaller aircraft.
This plane does not just land at any airport; it runs at at least 6,700 kilometers before take off and during landing and so this high end machine needs a lot of runway room to flex it's muscles before coming to a halt.
Airlines that are known for having this type of aircraft are: Emirates, Virgin Air, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Air France, and Singapore Airways. This aircraft is a European response to the American Boeing Aircraft. Said to be worth around $300m.

Boeing 747

Lufthansa flying

This aircraft is a king in the sky. Its size and functions can only be rivaled by the Airbus A380. Big name monarchs all over the world prefer this plane for their travels, starting from the powerful royals in the Emirates, the Saudis, the Qataris, and many of them, such as the King of Jordan, Oman, etc, they love this Boeing 747.
Also, this is the official aircraft of the President Of The United States (POTUS) of America. This aircraft is so big that many people see it as a flying palace in the sky (especially if it is for private use. This aircraft can seat up to 360 or more passengers per flight.
Just like the Airbus A380, the Boeing 747 can also withstand turbulence with ease, and the passengers will not feel it. The plane is also a long haul flight plane, as it can fly from the United States to Moscow, Russia, without the need to refuel, with a range of 12,000 miles. With this range, the POTUS will have zero worries about the issue of refueling, most especially if they are flying over a hostile territory.

Regional Flights

Embraer E-Jets

Embraer E-Jet flying

This Brazilian aircraft is popular for being a short-haul flight of regional plane. This does not mean that it cannot be flown for a long haul flight, it is just that the plane will engage in multiple stopovers to refuel before continuing it's journey.
For instance, Nigeria's Air Peace is known to use it for using the Embraer planes at its disposal for long haul journies. Just that they do multiple stopovers before getting to their final destination.
The ATR series are another major plane that is meant for short or regional travels. Also, the CRJs  are another plane that is used for this type of journey. One good thing about these planes is that they are not expensive to buy and maintain.
It is even adviced that new airlines should not focus on the long-haul travel planes, instead they should focus on the regional planes first before thinking of buying the bigger planes.

2. Private/ Corporate Jets

These types of aircraft are known as jets that can move at short notice. Some of them can fly ranges of 4000 nautica miles (6000 km) like the Embraer 1000 linage, while some others can fly 8000 nautica miles (12000km) like the Airbus ACJ330.
These are private or corporate jets that can fly long haul, though the Embraer can go between Africa-Europe, Africa-Dubai. However, flying to America from Africa will have a route like: Nigeria- Cape Verde- New York. However, we are not just going to list private jets; we will also list those that can go on a long-haul flight, like from the United States to Japan or India nonstop (actually, no need for refueling just to continue).

Bombardier Global 7500

Bombardier flying

This is one of the fastest corporate jets in the world; its prowess is not just in speed, but in range, as it has a range of 14000km and can fly from Atlanta to Tokyo nonstop. A brand new version of this machine can cost upto $65m -$70m, while a fairly used one can gulp up between $30m-$45m.
This type of aircraft is known for its cruise speed of 800km and can fly to 40,000 ft, where it will avoid the air traffic in the sky. As commercial aircrafts fly upto 30,000 ft, at this level there is a lot of air traffic.
The Global 7500 has a maximum passenger capacity of 19 passengers, including the pilots and crew.

Embraer 1000 Linage

Embraer 1000 Linage Flying

This is a predominantly private jet from the Brazilian plane maker Embraer. When compared with other private jets in its class, the Embraer 1000 Linage has the lowest range of 4000 nautical miles (6000km), which can fly from any part of Africa to Europe. However, the spacious cabin size has made it a premium choice for people who can afford it.
This plane is in the level of Global 7500, Dassualt Falcon, and  Gulfstream, amongst them all, the Embraer has the largest cabin size that can rival either an Airbus or Boeing narrow body. Though a narrow body, a brand new Embraer 1000 Linage costs around $50m to purchase, so when considering it's cheaper cost, cabin size, fuel efficiency, and cheaper maintenance cost, it becomes a bargain to purchase this machine. However, the downside is the stopovers that will happen just to refuel, which will definitely increase the operating cost of this aircraft.

Airbus ACJ330

Airbus ACJ330 Landing

Though a narrow body when compared to the A380 NEO and Boeing 747, the ACJ330 is a popular plane that is steadily being converted from a passenger aircraft to a private plane. A lot of heads of government all over the world use this aircraft for their travels.
When converted for private use, it creates rooms for 2 master suites, 2 lounges, a conference area restroom, and can sit up to 35 passengers.
This plane has a range of 8000 nautical miles (12000km) and can comfortably fly from Atlanta to Saudi Arabia nonstop.
These aircraft are very powerful machines that make travel faster and easier for individuals, government officials, and corporate bodies. Private jet manufacturers or converters have forecasted a better year as they expect more orders within the next 5 years.

3. Military Aircraft

Military aircraft are designed to fulfill a range of specialized roles. The three primary missions are attack (including combat and fighter roles), transport (moving troops, supplies, and equipment), and reconnaissance (gathering intelligence and surveillance). There are different types of military aircraft with unique capabilities tailored to these main functions.
These aircraft are made for combat, defense, and reconnaissance. They are operated beyond what commercial and private aircraft can do.

Fighter Jets

F-22 Raptor Flying

These are jets made strictly for combat, like the air-to-air fight (dog fight), they were built for speed as a result of the nature of combat, which needs speed. These jets can hit a target from the air to the ground, and (like we have already stated) air-to-air.
Jets in this category are: the F-22 Raptor, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the J-17 Thunder, and the Sukhoi Su-57.

Bombers

B-2 Spirit flying

This type of aircraft is not made for combat, instead it is meant to drop bombers deep into the enemy territory without being dictated.
For instance, the B-2 Spirit is known as an aircraft that can do this, as it can carry payloads of bombs on a long- haul flight, drop, and fly back home.
These types of aircraft are a few of the many existing planes out there. These planes have different capabilities in what they do.
