Following the defeat of the Nigerian Super Eagles in the hands of the Moroccan Atlas Lions it is safe to say that the two teams played their hearts out. 

However, in this article what we are going to focus on is the political angle to football that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) failed to look at politics involved at this level of football. We saw how Algeria protested against the referee that was to officiate their game against Nigeria, their protest led to the complete change of the entire officiating team.

Morocco protested heavily against the referee that was to officiate the match between them and Nigeria. They protested against the Egyptian refereeing team and the entire refereeing team was changed.

Imagine two North African countries protesting against the refereeing options made available against Nigeria. Now the question is why did the NFF not make a move against the Ghanaian and South African persons that made up the refereeing team, considering that the Nigeria has arch rivals in these two countries, and they will do everything to see to the downfall of the Super Eagles.

Next time the NFF should pay close attention to the refereeing team being set up to officiate any match of our national teams.
