The Nigerian Super Eagles have demanded for an increase in bonus payments. According to the information gathered, the Nigeria Football Federation made an offer to the players but the offer was rejected as the players cited an increase in the prize money for this AFCON which they said has moved from $7m to $10m.

Though, the details of the percentage increase and the amount were not made public, the players in a meeting with the NFF made it clear that they were not going to accept whatever the NFF were offering.

We cannot say if this is trouble brewing as the players are getting ready to play their first match today against the Tanzanian national team. This AFCON has seen a number of teams hold their Federations hostage regarding their bonuses.
