Eric Chelle has vowed never to coach Mali again. According to him, he suffer huge humiliation in the hands of the Mali Football Federation. He revealed that despite all odds, they made it to the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast and also ended in the knockout stage instead what he saw was a huge disrespect.

He revealed that his mother is from Mali while his father is French and as such does not harbor any form of resentment towards Mali.

He made it clear that if all things are well sorted out he would love to continue coaching the Super Eagles. According to him, the love and respect being shown to him by the players and the NFF officials have given him a sense of belonging in Nigeria, and is therefore, grateful to Nigerians and will like to do more if given the opportunity.
