The 2025 AFCON is almost at the end with just 4 matches remaining have a winner. However, we must not fail to talk about the last 2 quarter final matches; these matches were entertaining, blockbuster matches that could have easily passed for an unscripted movie scene given to an experienced actor.

The fight from start to finish that characterized the Nigeria vs Algeria match. As a matter of fact, the Nigerian Super Eagles did not take their feet off the pedal until the blast of the whistle from the referee signaling the end of the match.
The Super Eagles pressured the Algerians nonstop, they missed goals upon goals, they created lots of chances and goal scoring opportunities.

In the midfield, Frank Onyeka did what he knew how to do best, which was to breakup play. He disrupted the attacking flow (if there was any) of the Algerians. Captain Ndidi on the other hand, shielded the backline and also drove forward to support the attack. While Iwobi was very instrumental in many of the attacks, his defense splitting passes put the Algerians at the edge. Through his pass, he created the goal scoring opportunity for the second goal.

However, the Semifinal fixture for the Super Eagles will be at the host nation’s Atlas Lions of Morocco on the 14 of January 2025 (Wednesday).
