Following the Super Eagles’ performance at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, a lot of football fans outside the African continent are beginning to face the reality that the Nigerian national team will not be part of the World Cup barring last minute change.

One of those persons who is coming to terms with that reality is the Dutch national team coach, Simon Kalika. He made it clear that with the entertaining performances of the team it is heartbreaking that they would be at the World Cup.

Aside Ndidi and Iwobi, the rest of these players that make up the Super Eagles have not been to the World Cup. However the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have already petitioned FIFA regarding the eligibility of some DRC players and the final decision on the matter will be made known by February 2026.
