The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had thrown out the petition of Morocco against Senegal. This petition was based on the chaos that happened during the match.

According to the petition, Morocco protested that Senegal withdrew from the match before it could end as they left the field of play before the referee could blast the final whistle of the match.

According to a CAF rule, if a team forfeits or withdraws from a match before the final whistle of the game it automatically means that the withdrawing team will lose the match by 3-0 of which the victory will be awarded to the team that did not withdraw, forfeit or walk out of the game.

Morocco submitted their petition on the basis of this particular CAF rule, and they also wanted Senegal to be stripped off of the title. However, CAF threw out the petition on the basis of lacking merit.
