The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that the Super Eagles head coach has a clause in his contract that says he must get to the final of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON).

According to the NFF supremo, Alhaji Gusua, the Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has a “reach the AFCON final” clause in his contract. Although he could not qualify the country for the World Cup tournament the NFF chief believes that the coach did a fantastic job during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

When asked if there was a clause that stipulates that the coach must qualify the team for the World Cup tournament, the NFF president refrained from answering the question.

However, the NFF believes that the standard is high this time considering that at the last AFCON outing the Super Eagles got to the final of the competition eclipsing the contractual agreement the Federation had with the former coach- Jose Pesiero, who had a semi final clause in his contract. Though he met his contract terms, but the NFF declined his request.
