All is now set for the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) opener on Sunday (21/12/2025). The participating teams are on ground, they are done with their camping in various locations, we have seen the effizzy with the various cultural clothings [and] truly African cultures are somehow similar.

This time around there are no off field distractions, as teams have had little drama regarding their bonuses (which is mostly what the drama is about)- in this regard we had South African players on this table, but it has quickly been settled.

Another issue we had came from Cameroon, we saw two different squad lists; one from the Federation, the other from the sports ministry, however from the look of things it seems like the Federation had their way because CAF recognized the Federation’s list.

Aside from the two dramas listed above, we are yet to see another issue. As for the teams, we have seen preparations in top gear, we have seen teams go on camping outside the shores of Africa, we have equally seen some camp on African soil, and we have also seen teams set up their camp on the soil of Morocco (the host nation).

In this AFCON, we have seen how far the host nation have gone in their preparation, the ceremonies that have heralded the arrival of each team from the airport to their hotels, and to the stadia, we have seen the efforts Morocco have made just to have a wonderful AFCON experience.

To Morocco, this AFCON is a dress rehearsal to the trio hosting of the 2030 World which will be hosted in by the Iberian Peninsula nations of Morocco, Portugal and Spain, though the opening match will be played in Uruguay. This is to celebrate the hundred years of the world and which happens to be the first time the World Cup was played.

In conclusion, this AFCON will bring an atmosphere of excitement, something closer to World Cup, may the best team win.
